4.2 Token Utility
UPT serves multiple functional roles within the UniPay ecosystem, designed to act as a universal value unit embedded in the payment network rather than a standalone incentive token.
First, within the fee system, users can utilize UPT to offset transaction fees. The discount rate is tiered based on holding levels, with reductions of up to 30%. This mechanism directly links token demand to transaction activity, making it one of the core utility drivers.
Second, on the merchant side, UPT can be used as collateral for network access. By holding and staking a certain amount of UPT, merchants can benefit from lower fees, priority settlement channels, and higher transaction limits. This design not only enhances merchant experience but also introduces stable lock-up demand for the token.
At the governance level, UPT holders are able to participate in key platform decisions, including payment channel integrations, fee structure adjustments, ecosystem fund allocation, and market expansion strategies. This aligns token holders with the long-term development of the network.
In addition, UPT is used for ecosystem service payments, such as API access fees, merchant service fees, and cross-border settlement charges, giving the token practical utility in enterprise-level scenarios. It also functions as an access credential for ecosystem partnerships, enabling priority access to resources, collaboration opportunities, and participation in Launchpad and ecosystem initiatives.
From an incentive perspective, UPT is used to reward participants who contribute to the network, including nodes, promoters, developers, and merchant partners. This ensures continuous ecosystem expansion driven by real contributions.
Overall, UPT’s utility spans payments, settlement, governance, and ecosystem participation, creating multiple sources of sustained demand within the system.
